Bids climb for 3PAR. The computer giants Dell and Hewlett-Packard are engaged in a struggle to redeem the American Society of data storage. A standoff that intensified this week.

Last rebound on Friday: HP announced in mid-afternoon that he raised his bid for 3PAR to $ 30 per share, valuing the company proposed data storage to 2 billion dollars! Rival Dell had announced earlier in the day he lined up on the previous HP offers made Thursday night: $ 27 per share, or $ 1.8 billion.

In this battle of "cloud computing (cloud computing via the Internet), and two days are alike. The day of Thursday has been marked by the same scenario.By putting on the table an offer to 1.8 billion, HP responded to Dell, which had outbid earlier in the day.

For Dell, the matter seemed closed Thursday morning. Thirty cents per share closely. Indeed, the offer was raised from Dell was barely higher than that of HP, to 24.30 cents per share against 24 cents. If the transaction would receive the green light from authorities, Dell assured however that it could be finalized before the end of the year. The computer maker also added that the operation "should have a positive impact on [his] profit excluding exceptional items from fiscal 2012.

The "cloud computing" is popular

It was without counting on the pugnacity of HP payday advance lender. The acquisition would allow 3PAR to expand its range of storage products for cloud computing and support services activities, like other industry heavyweights like IBM, they tend to generate higher profit margins than sales of computers.

The ball is now in the hands of Dell. And it did not intend to waive 3PAR Friday. "The group continues to believe that the acquisition of 3PAR, and its storage technology market leaders, is an important operation for our customers and will strengthen Dell's position on these services," he said in its statement.Dell has until Sept. 20 to launch a public offer to acquire all the shares of 3PAR, "unless the offer is extended," he says.

The battle began last Aug. 16, when Dell announced plans to acquire 3PAR price of $ 18 per share. A week later, HP came out of the woods. Last Monday, the group also proposed 1.6 billion dollars against 1.15 billion for Dell. The suspense continues, therefore. And the recovery of 3PAR flies …

On Friday, shares of Hewlett-Packard bend 1.5% to 37.6 dollars in Wall Street, about 17 hours, while Dell shares advance 1.8% to $ 12. 3PAR him, flew 21.5%.

The downward trend is continuing. After a decline of 1.2% in June and 11.5% in May, new car registrations in France fell 12.9% in July to 169,804 units, according to the Committee of French Automobile ( CCFA). A comparable number of working days, the decline in sales stood at 8.7%. The month of July had 21 days this year, against 22 last year.

"This is indeed great car scrapping begins to decrease," said a spokesman for the CCFA to Reuters. "But we have a slow decline, not an effect to the German, which is rather positive," he added. In Germany the first European car market, the scrappage has indeed been deleted from the exhaustion of the envelope at the start. The relapse was rapid. The German market has declined from 32.3% to 289,259 cars registered in June

In France, the government has opted for a gradual withdrawal of aid device. The scrapping bonus of 1,000 euros last year, was reduced to 700 euro from 1 January and 500 euros July 1.

Dacia and Volkswagen in good shape

While Volkswagen (11.9%) and Dacia (% 47.5) drew their game well, all the other major brands have lost ground on the French car market last month. Sales only French brands, which have benefited most from the demand created by the aid fell by 15.4% in July, while those of foreign brands fell 9.9%.

In the duel Franco-French, PSA Peugeot Citroen has suffered more than its competitor Renault. Its sales have faltered by 15% (-17% to -13.3% for Citroën and Peugeot), while those of the Renault group fell 7.6%. A victory in sham, because largely due to the strong performance of low-cost Dacia brand. The brand with the diamond, it has seen its sales eroded by 15.9%, despite the accession of the Mégane range to the highest step of the podium families of best-selling cars in France last month.

In the first seven months of 2010, registrations in France stand still up 2.8% in raw data to 1,382,240 units, and 2.1% in comparable number of working days, compared to the same period of 2009. For all of 2010, the CCFA expected to registrations of about two million new vehicles in France.

Back to a market more 'normal'

"We are now back to a more normal market, with a second part of the year is traditionally the weakest. Except this time, the end of the year will be much worse with the unfavorable base effect in late 2009, "says its spokesman.

In Spain, the Association of Automotive Manufacturers ANFAC does not show as serene. Registrations of new cars in Spain fell 24.1% in July over a year, a setback after ten consecutive months of increases, "she said Monday. In total, 82,167 new cars were sold in July, against 121,483 a month earlier and 108,221 in July 2009. On Thursday, the Association had sounded the alarm, suggesting a 50% drop in auto sales in July. She even called for "an urgent meeting with Minister of Industry to study the proposals and possible solutions to this serious situation."

Outside Europe, other markets automotive show excellent health. Japan has announced on Monday registrations up 15% for the month of July. In the first seven months of the year, the Japs bought 2,054,094 new cars, or 28.9% more than the previous year.

Industrial projects of Renault in Russia are becoming clear. In cooperation with its Japanese subsidiary Nissan, the automaker in diamond should invest 300 million euros in the construction of a plant of national carmaker Avtovaz, which holds 25% stake. The goal: to produce three new small car from 2012.

This information has been reported by the Japanese business daily Nikkei, citing the chairman of Avtovaz, Igor Komarov. The total investment on the site amount to 400 million euros, Renault and Nissan, taking on two of them three quarters.

The models will then be marketed by each group its name, from 2012 or 2013 will come out every year with assembly lines, 150,000 Renault, Nissan 75,000 and 75,000 vehicles Avtovaz Lada brand. One way for the firm of Togliatti (980 kilometers southeast of Moscow) to benefit from technologies developed by the Franco-Japanese. Last March, the three partners had already announced the creation of a new common structure to increase the use of parts produced in Russia and improve the quality of suppliers.

Restructured, Avtovaz returned to the green

This announcement follows the presentation on Thursday, the financial restructuring plan Avtovaz, which plans from Renault investment of 240 million euros in the enterprise technology and materials no fax cash advance. In return for this, and in accordance with his wishes, the French manufacturer keeps intact its stake in the Russian manufacturer, while the conglomerate state Rosstechnology increases his (29%).In contrast, the investment bank Troika Dialog sees its participation diluted. The cards will be reshuffled in 2012. Like all builders in the country, Avtovaz has benefited greatly from program scrapping set last March by the Russian government, which has also planned to extend it.

At the price of a heavy restructuring, the group that there is less than a year, was on the brink of the abyss, even recorded a profit of 1 billion rubles in the second quarter (25 million euros). Nevertheless, the models produced by Avtovaz, including the famous Lada, are far from holding the rope against the European competitors, even if the manufacturer holds 30% of Russian market. "He does not let the success of the plan of scrapping done overshadow our true goal: to modernize the company, recently recalled the Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin the President of Avtovaz, Igor Komarov.Under the watchful eye of the Kremlin, the objective of the three manufacturers, Renault, Nissan and Avtovaz, is taking 40% of Russian market in 2015.

Public debt has continued to become heavy in the first quarter. It was late March, to 1.5355 trillion euros, representing 80.3% of gross domestic product (GDP), against approximately 78% in late 2009, according to Insee. This represents an increase of 46.5 billion compared to December.

The government debt and social security have contributed to this increase, details the National Institute of Statistics. "The contribution of the State debt rose by 43.4 billion

in the first quarter, it is essential for its long-term marketable debt, "said INSEE. Clearly, these are the bonds issued to finance the state debt have widened.

The debt of Social Security, it has increased by 8.6 billion. In contrast, "local government is désendettent (- 2.8 billion) at a rate comparable to the first quarters of previous years," notes the INSEE.

The fault in the recovery plan

Bercy said in a statement that "increasing the debt on the recent past is linked to political recovery after the crisis." The government now wants to reverse the trend. The government should submit a detailed savings plan of 10 billion euros at the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.

François Fillon had lifted one end of the sail June 12 in terms of deficit reduction. It is to find 100 billion in savings over three years to reduce the deficit to 3% of GDP, against 7.5% in 2009. But the VAT increase to 5.5% on food, mentioned by the Minister of Budget Sunday, seems to have been abandoned.

Optimism on the air. The International Air Transport Association (IATA), which represents 230 airlines companies accounting for 93% of global air traffic, has revised upward its net earnings forecast for the sector, saying it would return to profit this year , thanks to his efforts to "reduce costs and restructuring, but also to promote economic recovery.

The association now expects the world's airlines recorded a profit of 2.5 billion dollars in 2010, she said during his meeting in Berlin on Monday. In March, it expected a loss of 2.8 billion. With a loss of 9.4 billion, 2009 was the worst year the industry has experienced.

Strong rebound in air traffic

"The global economy out of the depths of the financial crisis much more quickly than expected. The airlines benefit from the strong rebound in traffic and back into the green, "said IATA Director General Giovanni Bisignani. "This is the first profit since 2007," he said. According to the association, air traffic is expected to jump by 7.1% this year.

Consequently, the total revenue the airline expected to reach $ 545 billion in 2010, against a forecast of 522 billion last March. A performance well above 483 billion recorded in 2009, but always below the 564 billion revenue in 2008.

"We thought we would have at least three years to make up for the loss of 81 billion (14.3%) of revenue that we suffered in 2009," said Giovanni Bisignani, saying the airline industry has found "his levels before the crisis "at 75%.

Europe alone in the red

The Director General of IATA has bolted not yet. With a margin of 0.5%, "we are far from sustainable profitability," he warned. Especially as the expected improvement is not concern the industry as a whole. "Europe, with a weak economy, is the only region to be in the red with losses of 2.8 billion, has again warned the general manager.

Tough week ahead for Air France. On Wednesday, the group should announce operating losses of around EUR 1.3 billion for its fiscal year ended March 2010. They will be close, historical, 1993. Since then, Air France has tripled its turnover.

If the amount of such losses is already known (the company has prepared the public mind when it announced its latest quarterly results), their decomposition is less.

For more than 600 million euros, the losses are related to the impact of fuel hedges, the advance purchase of oil at a given price from banks.

According to our information, the management of Air France declined to comment, cargo activity has on his side lost 499 million euros, of which 50 million are attributable to the subsidiary Martinair. These figures indicate that if the passenger activity has been shaken by the crisis, especially the cargo, which penalized the company.

Cargo activity came first in the crisis with volume declines in mid-2008. "They have suffered from the downturn in April 2008, six months before the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, said a government source. At the group's executive committee, it was decided not to increase capacity by cargo aircraft for the winter. "

Air France-KLM Cargo has gone through severe turbulence, with a decline in volumes of 22% from last year. The Asian market, driven by imports of consumer goods, has experienced the biggest drop. The United States, more towards capital goods, have them ground earlier but in lower proportions.

Reduced capacity

At the same time, the company has drastically reduced the wing. 700 departures in two years have not been replaced at Air France-KLM Cargo. The adjustment of staff accompanied a decline in cargo capacity. In September, the company launched the adjustment freighter (CAP). Objective: To reduce capacity, concentrating freight traffic on the bunkers at the expense of cargo planes dedicated to freight alone, and be beneficial to the end of the year 2011-2012. In this context, Air France has got rid of two brand new Boeing 777s it has sold to FedEx before they are delivered at Paris this winter.

These aircraft, offered 250 million euros each at list prices and traded 150 million euros, were sold at the same price. The transaction still cost 30 to 50 million euros in Air France, which had to pay storage costs for the aircraft at Boeing and significant financial costs.

The company also leases two Boeing 747 Russian Air Bridge. "They were bought at a time when the dollar was high, said an analyst. It was more interesting for Air France to rent and sell them in five years. "Since then the two aircraft were flying under the colors of Air Bridge. They just make the transport of missiles between Russia and Chateauroux.

This decrease of 16.2% of capacity has led to a dramatic reduction in costs of 19%. Florence Parly, the owner of the cargo, has managed to reduce the unit costs of 2.4% per tonne km (RTK).The rigor of the former Secretary of State Budget worries the unions of Air France, who believe it will prevent the rebound in activity after the crisis.

The resignation of the President of the Agence France-Presse, Pierre Louette, February 24 last, to join France Telecom as secretary general of the group, has launched the race to succeed him.

Currently, two candidates have officially released their candidacy for the presidency of the French news agency. In early March, Olivier Zegna Rata, Director of Institutional Relations of Canal +, was the first to enter the race. It has since been joined by an internal candidate to the agency, the journalist of British David Sharp, a member of the AFP Committee and member of the union SUD-AFP.

Besides these two official candidates, others have entirely been transmitted to the Board of Directors of AFP but not so far made public.Others may also occur in the coming days, the board of directors of the agency who left the candidates until March 25 to declare.

Pending

Pending the close of nominations, speculation is rife. So much so that Jean-Marie Colombani, former editor of Le Monde, had to deny. Currently responsible, along with four other media personalities, a mission on the future of the AFP, Jean-Marie Colombani would, on this occasion, said that no member of this mission should apply to the Presidency AFP payday loans online .Also a member of this mission, Fabrice Boe, whose name has circulated a time, Le Figaro said "not a candidate for this day" but "very concerned about the future of the agency."

Other names circulating Emmanuel Hoog, the current president of the INA; Hiault Denis, a former bureau chief of AFP in London or Philip Micouleau, former CEO of Agefi and member of the Board of Directors AFP … So many personalities who have never – at least for now – confirmed their interest in this position.

The screening committee of the AFP reported not refrain "from direct contact with any person whom it believes it can validly claim to occupy the position of CEO of the agency."So, many figures are quoted with Arnaud de Puyfontaine, president of the British subsidiary of Hearst, and Bruno Patino, director of France Culture.

The next board of directors of AFP, which select candidates, is already scheduled the week of April 5.

The online banks will have to convince the French still reluctant. A BVA survey conducted for the Dutch bank ING Direct, four out of five French are not ready to transfer all or part of their funds in a bank online.

Requires close

The first reason given for their refusal is the need for closeness (89% of responses). Even if they are not all satisfied with their current bank, the French chose an institution primarily because it is easy to reach from home or workplace. Then (74%), fear of having no one to contact if problems or unexpected. Finally, the desire to maintain a customized report with a counselor is paramount for 68% of the 736 respondents with an internet connection … and 73% of them feel just as consultants online banks are unreachable.More surprisingly, the French fear the formalities of transfer of accounts and especially the closing costs from their current institution. But the closure of checking accounts are paying more since 2005!

Fresh lean

Yet the French recognize the qualities of online banks. Some like their fee policy on current operations or the free cards are recognized strengths. 35% of respondents spoke as a major factor in choosing a bank. The hourly range is also appreciated. That leaves working on customer relationship … ING, which currently has 750,000 customers in France, with 500,000 more expected within 6 months.
