Air France-KLM Orders 110 Airbus and Boeing aircraft

Saturday Sep 17, 2011

The airline announced Friday morning the details of his mega-order long-awaited by the industry. Air France-KLM is in need of long-haul 110 and passes a total of 50 firm orders and 60 options from Airbus and Boeing. Choices that are equally balanced between the two aircraft manufacturers as the firm order for 25 Airbus A350-900 and 25 Boeing B787-9 and the options are based on 35 A350-900s and 25 B787. The slight advantage, theoretical, obtained by Airbus was offset by the secret location by KLM B787 10, said La Tribune.

The group did not indicate the amount of the order but at list price, the total value would represent an investment of $ 20 billion and approximately 11.3 billion in firm orders.Following its board of directors held Thursday in New York, the group said the acquisitions "are designed to be funded by cash flow generated by the group's operations."

In addition, the group plans to commission 73 new aircraft by 2024 and then the options are exercisable between 2026 and 2028. The first Boeing 787-9 will enter service with KLM in 2016 while the first Airbus A350-900 will integrate the Air France fleet in 2018. The airline declined to give guidance on the distribution of new orders between the two group companies. "The two companies operate the two types of devices," Air France said simply. Sign that the group is more integrated than before and that the merger between Air France-KLM starts synergies.

Outstanding issues

Points of legal and economic order are still being defined. The discussion include the drivers and maintenance. In fact, the A350-900 ordered will be powered by Rolls-Royce or any device so far the airline did not work with such engines. The most important maintenance service of Air France-KLM has to adapt to new circumstances, notably through new licensing agreements.

And even if Air France-KLM touts its choices "after a detailed assessment" including on energy and environmental performance of appliances, the critics could rocket. One hundred French deputies had indeed launched a petition in June to urge Air France-KLM, which the state owns 15.7%, to choose the Airbus A350 instead of the Boeing 787 for its next command.

By a vote of aid to Greece without enthusiasm

Wednesday Sep 7, 2011

The debate increasingly keen on tax loopholes, which confirms that in each there is a lobby ready to bark! – Would almost forget that the draft supplementary budget for consideration Tuesday in the National Assembly is primarily to validate the plan to support Greece, July 21 designed by the Heads of State and Government. Paris wanted to quickly translate into national law, to enable the European Financial Stability Fund (EFSF) to be operational by the autumn. While some of our European neighbors dragging their feet, "France is the first country in the euro area to become involved in the adoption process", and was praised Tuesday the Minister of Economy, Baroin.

The votes of parliaments must give the green light to the Fund to make it more flexible: if the process goes smoothly, the EFSF will in future lead to a state pre-emptively "as a precaution", "finance the recapitalization of banks and financial institutions through loans to governments "and finally" intervene directly in the secondary markets sovereign debt, to avoid contagion and to fight against speculation. " The text extends the guarantees of states to these new missions. In the previous supplementary budget, the ceiling of France had been increased to 159 billion.

PS If the judge plan "inadequate" and abstain on the vote today, some members of the majority on Tuesday said they would adopt "without enthusiasm".

"Staying lucid"

Yves Bur (UMP, Bas-Rhin) in front of his colleagues wondered "if the answer to the crisis of the Greek debt does not come too late or if we do let's face at the failure of Greece to take its responsibilities ". He fears that this has a consequence: add to "a little more our own debt load."We must "stay lucid," warned the rapporteur of the Finance Committee, Gilles Carrez, which asked the vigilance of the "public debt that replaces private debt."

According to the scheme adopted by the countries of the euro area, loans made by the EFSF is a financial transaction with no effect on the deficit, public debt, it will increase the amount of guaranteed loans "as and when they pay "says the text. Remains to be hoped that the fears of investors about the ability of Greece to reform and to repay its debts do not materialize …

For now, Paris refuses to give in to defeatism. "We trust the Greek government to decline in terms of economy that is essential to condition the support they have, the Europeans and the International Monetary Fund," insisted Tuesday Baroin.Lucid on questions about the situation today, he also tried to reassure the state of the economy in Europe, "without denying that there are difficulties," the minister assured that the fundamentals were "good" and expressed confidence in the soundness of the banking model. In this context, "France is not threatened with recession," he said.

Aid to Greece suspended from a German decision

Tuesday Sep 6, 2011

Angela Merkel and her government are holding their breath. Renowned for its warmth towards Europe, the Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe invite this week in the feverish debate on the rescue of the euro. The judges will vote Wednesday on the constitutional legality of financial aid given to Greece in May 2010. Their decision could affect the vote of German MPs, who must decide on Sept. 29 in the Bundestag on extending the powers of the European Financial Stability Fund (EFSF).

Already facing a rebellion of the members of his conservative party (CDU), the German Chancellor has been careful to separate into two parts the vote on aid to Greece and that concerning the adoption of the future European Stability Mechanism (SPM) .More than two dozen elected officials of the CDU threatened not to ratify the decisions taken at the European Council of 21 July, fearing that Berlin does not transfer too much power to Brussels. MPs are reluctant to help Greece, which they consider a "bottomless pit" and feel that their powers in budgetary matters were trampled. The Chancellery is concerned that the decision of the judges in Karlsruhe will come inflame the debate.

Growing skepticism

Largest economy in the euro zone, Germany is also the primary funder and many elected officials in Berlin believe that they should as such have much more say in the rescue plans in the area that other countries. If the Court in Karlsruhe decided to grant German MPs a say too much in the allocation of European aid, the mechanism could find them paralyzed.German lawmakers already ensure tooth and nail over the interests of their taxpayers from a decision of the Court of Karlsruhe, dating from 2009, in which the judges had distanced themselves from the Lisbon Treaty. The Court could also decide to set limits on the allocation of aid to countries in difficulty due to the entry into force in 2012 of the brake mechanism to the debt, the golden rule in Germany. For this aid could lead to cuts in the budgets of the Federal Republic.

Across the Rhine, the distrust of the single currency is growing. A survey of the institute Allensbach with German parliamentarians center-right shows that 76% of them have little or no confidence in the euro, against 71% in a similar poll two months ago. This was reinforced by the departure of Athens, Friday, representatives of the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund have given ten days to the Greek government to advance structural reforms in the country . The parties of the center-right coalition in power have multiplied over the weekend their warnings to Greece, ordered to implement as soon as his promises of reform in return for aid to balance its budget.

Parisot denounced a U.S. plot against Europe

Sunday Aug 28, 2011

LE FIGARO. – Economic activity appears to be a brake brutal. How do you explain it?

Laurence Parisot. – The slowdown is due to meet two sets of causes: the United States, an economic and political situation that was deteriorating, and in Europe, the States that crossed the red line in terms of debt. Once you overcome these difficulties, we find a strong growth and job creation but do not mistake in the analysis of what we experienced this summer. The situation was tense when China began to lecture the U.S. on their debt. The Americans probably wanted then iron the mistigri to Europe. There has been a kind of psychological warfare and an attempt to destabilize the euro area. The markets have overreacted, being by nature very sensitive to rumors, even organized. The moral of the story is that we should not be naive and fall for the autodisqualification: if Europe were attacked, not because it is weak but because it is strong, and if it is envy, because it is enviable.

Who was behind this conspiracy?

I call it an "orchestration" overseas challenges of Europe. See the rumors about the French banks, which were released immediately when they were absolutely unfounded. Our banks are among the strongest in the world. Some of the U.S. media yet announced the death of a particular and even the end of the euro area.We went from attacks on Spain in attacks on Italy and then France, until rumors of degradation of Germany last week! When American publications widely read by investors and financial analysts on false ads headlined drama, questions arise.

The accumulation of debts of the States, however, is a reality …

Certainly. The debts are no longer tenable. They must be absorbed quickly. As shown by the measures taken last week, the government was quick to hear the warning.

You are therefore in favor of the gold back to a balanced budget?

The principle of the golden rule would consolidate the reputation of our country and facilitate the work of any government. Many countries are engaged in it, it would be strange that we're not able to do French.

Ten billion of additional levies for a billion expenditure savings, is this the best way to fight against the deficit?

We had to quickly adjust the situation, the government has. But you are right, this is not enough, and the state must also accelerate the decline in spending. Ideally, a ratio of 1 to 2: twice as many savings on expenses for upward social and fiscal revenues. Measures such as pension reform and the non-replacement of an official two-point in this direction.Going further will require further structural reforms: focus on local communities and to decline the RGPP; work as health, including public hospitals (why does bill over to the insurance sector private for the same benefits?), and finally develop across the public-private partnerships and public service delegations. These channels have the immense advantage of not touching our social model.

François Fillon he had the "SME attitude" that you keep advocating in his anti-deficit plan?

It has indeed been attentive to small businesses but we must do more. Among the SOHO-SME-ETI today are the CAC 40 companies in 2030: they must get the best possible environment in order to grow. That's why we call for an extensive program to délégiférer and deregulate the legal system that encircles the neck to the small and medium enterprises. It should also reduce their taxes. It is shocking that the corporate tax (IS) actually paid by the SOHO-SME is (relative to the operating surplus) of about 39% against 19% for large companies. Among other reasons, the latter deduced from their result the interest on loans, while the SOHO-SME do not because of their reduced ability to borrow free 3-in-1 credit report. That's double trouble! There is also a reduced rate of corporation tax (15%) for companies whose turnover does not exceed 7.6 million euros. Medef request that the ceiling be raised to 10 million.

Sixteen top managers were willing last week to be taxed more.Do you agree with the exceptional tax on high incomes will be instituted?

We see very high incomes in athletes, actors, professionals: it is not an issue specific to some entrepreneurs. I understand the principle of a special tax to a special moment, but the tree should not hide the forest and make us forget the need for moderation in executive compensation. Also, do not confuse everything. There would be demagoguery to compare the incomparable and put in the same bag annual revenues of 250 000 euros and 2.5 million.Let us ensure that future developments of the threshold does not affect the middle class, including the upper middle classes, which are the engine of the economy.

The inclusion of overtime in the calculation of reduced charges on low wages is not likely does not increase the cost of labor and destroy low-skilled jobs?

There are of course in this action plan that we like less than others. We also deplore the passage of the social package 6 to 8%: it penalizes the profit-sharing that we want to encourage. But all part of a clear logic of debt and that, we salute.

Are you concerned about the evolution of unemployment in the coming months?

We can stop the recent deterioration. Understanding that in TPE-PME is the greatest employment potential and the fostering.Working on better employability of job seekers, integrating strong mutations trades, adapting in real time training.

The precarious employment with the proliferation of part-time, Temporary … How about it?

As part of the agreement on unemployment insurance signed earlier this year, we will create with the unions a working group on the evolution of modes of compensation. We have also provided a social debate on the labor market. I want to bring these reflections to improve the overall employment-unemployment-training. The procedures surrounding the employment contract must further progress: as such, they are blocked by their length and excessive legalism. Fear of hiring is the biggest problem for companies.Should be conducted with the collective labor disruptions that have been done with individual outs. We do not say enough that breaking conventional setup for the first time in France "flexicurity" and everyone wins.

What is the menu of your negotiations with the unions in the second half?

The priority in the coming days is to implement the employer-union agreements in the first half of youth employment. We will also continue negotiations on the value and the modernization of the peer. We will also discussions on the social well-being at work and professional equality between men and women, in which we will include paternity leave.

What is your strategy to get your ideas during the presidential campaign?

In 2007, we published a book, Need air that marked the campaign. We prepare "Need air 2" due out in early January. "Need air 2" propose structural reforms but also bring a great European project. Some time ago, it happened that I meet entrepreneurs who admitted to having voted no to the Maastricht Treaty, now I see those same business leaders confident, enthusiastic and ready to move resolutely towards European federalism economic and social development. France will remain in France if and only if Europe is united, united and powerful.

Skype invests in messages grouped

Tuesday Aug 23, 2011

GroupM was promised a destiny to Twitter and Foursquare. Like the latter, the start-up in New York was revealed at the conference Internet "South by Southwest," which was held in Texas in March. But barely a year after its creation, GroupM has already attracted the attention of the giants of the Internet and has just been bought by Skype for an estimated $ 80 million.

The operation allows the specialist to Internet telephony to build a niche in the amount of online communication: messages grouped. With services such as GroupM, users can create discussion groups on their mobile phone and communicate with others, forming "chatrooms" private SMS.In recent months, major Internet players have been enamored of such services, which range from communication, and coordination, like Facebook, which bought the Beluga service in March 2011, eight months after its creation. In addition, the social network launched mid-August, Facebook Messenger, a mobile instant messaging application.

For its part, Google has made this communication bundle a cornerstone of its community platform + Google launched in late June, with the "hangouts" spaces bundled instant messaging and video. Finally, as recently shown by the London riots, the BlackBerry is an actor to be reckoned with in this area, through its private courier BBM (BlackBerry Messenger). Now owns GroupM, Skype will better stand up to these types of communications fast cash without a hassle.

175 million monthly users of Skype

"Skype and GroupM have a common vision.GroupM's team has created a messaging experience incredibly attractive bundle that runs across the terminals and mobile platforms, making it a perfect complement in voice, video and text of the Skype family, "said Tony Bates, general manager of Skype, in a statement.

For Jared Hecht, co-founder Steve Martocci GroupM, "there is a natural affinity between Skype and GroupM.""Our goal is to continue to develop tools that allow people to easily communicate, share and keep in touch with their close relations and important," he said, arguing that integration with Skype would allow the start-up achieve its vision of "ten times faster."

The start-up is already looking forward to see the service offered to 175 million monthly users of Skype.

The acquisition of Skype by GroupM, which is the subject of discussion for several months, could also be beneficial to Microsoft. It announced the acquisition of Skype for $ 8.5 billion in May.While sentencing the operating system (OS) Windows Mobile Phone 7, the software giant could find with GroupM a valuable feature to include in its bid for smartphones.

"Come as you are"

Sunday Aug 21, 2011

In May 2010, McDonald's France was a sensation with a TV spot in which a teenager going on a phone call to her boyfriend before having lunch with his father, who explains that, as he did at that age, it could be a 'real card with the babes. " Advertising has been around the world. In the original French with subtitles in English, it even triggered a controversy in the United States. The conservative Fox News channel has even made a field day. Sacrilege: great American brand in the gay friendly side!

In this spot, designed by BETC Euro RSCG, is not known if the son ends up coming out to her.But the statement by McDonald's, which has declined in all genres, is very clear that you're straight or gay, black or white, young or old, rich or poor, we do not judge, "just like you are. "

Before, we criticized the pub not to be representative of "visible minorities", not to be sufficiently "black-blanc-beur". Today, the debate has shifted to the "non-visible minorities" and still gets carried away on the issues of communalism, which are still taboo in France.

10% of "non-white"

The proportion of ads depicting characters perceived as "non-white" compared to the total advertising (TV, press and poster) distributed and reviewed by the Regulatory Authority's professional advertising (ARPP) reached 7% in 2008 against 3% in 2005, and this share has increased further since then, around 10%."Racial minorities are now represented quite rightly, said Ingrid Zerbib, image editor for the magazine Strategies, who viewed all the ads that come out in France. The next step is in progress. Homosexuals, the disabled and the sick are increasingly visible. "

McDonald's campaign has been emulated. Krys posted Orangina or gays in their pubs. Personalities with disabilities such as Down syndrome Pascal Duquenne for the virtual mobile operator Simyo, or the blind Gilbert Montagne, for heating specialist camera, turned in spots. Diseases are also commonplace."You can be sick without stigma," said Anne Ramon, communications director of the National Cancer Institute (INCA), the last campaign "I am a person, not a cancer," conducted by the agency La Chose , seeks to change social perceptions of one of the most widespread diseases in France.

In another, more commonplace, but also an affirmation of reality: that of the Community consumption, with the campaign launched last year by the brand halal Isla Delight "Proudly halal." On the occasion of Ramadan, for the first time in France, the brand was as diverse a reference food, free of any cliché. "This campaign is a marker, decrypts the marketing consultant Jean-Jacques Urvoy. The brand was treated as the French leader Charal. "On a halal market estimated at over 5 billion euros – and therefore highly competitive – the whole trick of the ad was to challenge the EU labeling, while displaying a rooster and a Charolais beef! A war of images in a way.

"The signals on growth are not good"

Friday Aug 5, 2011

LE FIGARO. -The markets are highly concerned in recent weeks of debt crises. In this context, the economy has not she also helped to disrupt?

Jean-Michel SIX. -If, of course. And we must start by saying that in times of summer holidays, the markets, which were then much lower volumes, overreact to any new economic situation. The lower the index is up or dive in a much more important than what happens in winter.

Right now, they are rather dive …

For several months, both sides of the Atlantic, the signals on growth are not good. United States, including employment prospects are very disappointing. In fact, employment is not really left since the 2008 financial crisis.Labor mobility is limited due to the housing crisis: moving to take a new position, which is much the United States, is difficult because it becomes difficult to sell his house. As for household consumption, it is significantly weakened by the debt levels of Americans. A total of 2011 should result in a 2% growth, which is very disappointing for the U.S., where the pace of activity is generally much higher than in Europe.

Europe, precisely, is it in a perilous situation?

The problem of Europe is the growing divergence between North and South. This is something that worries the markets, which are asking what does that mean in terms of consistency of the euro area. Then, after a strong first quarter, it was believed that the air hole is the second passenger (once the effects of the earthquake in Japan absorbed and oil back to lower levels). But we realize that the sequence is also likely to be poor Payday advance.

Markets can they regain composure?

It is quite possible to restore calm in September thanks to coordinated action. What happened in July is that we have simultaneously witnessed a loss of U.S. leadership, unable to break the deadlock of debt and a crisis of leadership in Europe in a context crisis on public finances. This is exactly the opposite which would have required!

So how about it?

First, we must continue the work on European Governance. This is critical. Second, the timing of implementation of the second plan is important for Greece. The European Financial Stability Fund will be endowed with significant firepower, which is to say the least-welcome, but there is some impatience markets. It is important not to drag the national parliaments to adopt the device. The political signal must come quickly. Finally, the ECB has played its role, it must continue to appear reassuring.

That's what she tried to Thursday …

The measures announced by President Trichet, in particular the resumption of purchases by the ECB on secondary markets, are extremely positive.

Investors do they always trust in the euro area?

Yes. Investor confidence, especially in emerging countries has not disappeared. She even remained strong, as evidenced by the excellent performance of the euro since the beginning of the crisis. The euro zone faces a crisis of governance, not a crisis of its currency.

Wall Street managed to bounce back

Thursday Aug 4, 2011

Wall Street played the yoyo on Wednesday, a sign of great excitement. In early trade, the Dow edged up 0.09% at 11,878 points, but half an hour later, he lost 0.32% to 11,829 points. It finally closed on a small increase of 0.25% at 11,896 points. Nasdaq and S & P ending respectively on gains of 0.89% to 2693 points and 1260 points to 0.50%.

The day before, the Dow Jones had not been reassured by the vote of Congress, which has yet avoided a last-minute failure to pay the United States. The index feature New York had dropped 2.19%, still below 12,000 points."The U.S. indices have not even seen a technical rebound in the final hours of trading, as usual … Not since October 2008, the subprime crisis, to find such a sequence of declining U.S. indexes" analysts said Aurel BGC.

The threat rating agencies

In fact, the tension is not ready to fall in markets on both sides of the Atlantic. Despite the adoption by Congress of the Agreement on raising the national debt, the rating agencies maintain pressure on the world's largest economy. "The lowering of AAA to AA + rating from the U.S. would be a major shock for the world's largest economy, one that most creditors on the planet, says Stock Exchange on Barclays.Financing costs would increase the country, making more difficult the control of its huge debt. "

Moody's has already held that the agreement was manifestly inadequate and that the note of the United States could actually be lowered. The AAA highest possible rating currently assigned to the United States, is now accompanied by a negative outlook. Moody's is the second agency to assign a negative outlook on the triple A rating from the United States, according to Standard and Poor's on April 18. The third major rating agency, Fitch Ratings, maintains a stable outlook for now.

Another rating agency, but Chinese Dagong, has already lowered the credit rating of the United States after the vote of Congress, by passing from A + to A with a negative outlook.A decision that should be only for the time being very relative impact: the rating agency, in fact follows a methodology different from that of U.S. agencies Moody's, Fitch or Standard & Poor's. Unlike the three U.S. agencies that provide the United States sesame AAA Dagong does not in Washington this maximum score, and in November had lowered from AA to A +.

The ISM services disappoints

In this context, the macroeconomic agenda of the day, to say the least fleshed out, was watched closely, a sign of investor concerns about growth in the U.S..

At 14:15, the consulting firm HR ADP unveiled its traditional and highly anticipated monthly report on employment. Higher than the 100,000 new jobs expected by analysts, job creation in the U no fax pay day loan.S. private sector employment reached 114,000 in July.

In contrast, growth in the services sector in the United States recorded a surprise slowdown in July, according to the index of purchasing managers released Wednesday by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). ISM non-manufacturing index stood at 52.7 last month, falling to its lowest level since February 2010, after 53.3 in June. Analysts on average expected a 53.6 index.

Orders for the industry fell 0.8% in June in the United States, driven down by gloom in the transport sector, said Wednesday the Commerce Department. Economists on average had expected a decline a little less strong, 0.7%. Orders were up 0.6% in May

Oil prices have again fallen back sharply Wednesday in New York as the market worried about demand for crude in an economic environment deteriorates. On the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex), a barrel of "light sweet crude" for September delivery finished at 91.93 dollars, down 1.86 dollars compared to the previous day.

Concerns about U.S. energy demand were boosted by the expected increase in official reserves of oil in the week ended July 29.According to figures released by the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE), crude oil inventories rose as expected 1.0 million barrels, those of gasoline rose more than expected 1.7 million barrels against the 100,000 barrels estimated by analysts.

Half year results: Comcast did better than expected

On the corporate side, several large quarterly publications are expected throughout the day, which should, once will not hurt, however, be overshadowed by the acute problems of sovereign debt and economic downturn.

The publications program began as microeconomic 13 hours, with, among others, the results of the second quarter of Time Warner (-1.18% to 33.60 dollars).Net income displayed increased 13.5% to 638 million.

At that moment, were released the results of Comcast (0.18% to 22.77 dollars), who, with a net profit up 16% to $ 1.02 billion, is slightly better than expected.

Garmin (-2.03% to 30.89 dollars) announced quarterly earnings down due to a fall of 19% of sales of navigation systems for cars and mobile devices. Before the opening, title Garmin gave 14%.

It will however wait until 22 hours to find out the half-year figures of Activision Blizzard (1.11% to 11.82 dollars).

Beyond the semi-annual publications, Amag Phamaceuticals (11.19% to $ 16) received an unsolicited offer to buy back the private equity investment MSMB Capital Management, valuing the pharmaceuticals group around $ 381 million. The offer, $ 18 per share offers a premium of 25% over the closing price of Amag Phamaceuticals Tuesday at 14.39 dollars.

Tuesday Jul 19, 2011

Greece: IMF releases 3.2 billion

Saturday Jul 9, 2011

The board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met Friday in Washington, approved, as expected, the release of a new tranche of 3.2 billion euros for Greece.

It is in addition to 8.7 billion euros released a week ago by the European Union. This round of 12 billion euros is the fifth of the rescue plan 110 billion approved last year. It should enable the country to repay much of its debt maturing July 15 (EUR 2.4 billion to good six months) and 22 July (2 billion euros good for three months).

But Greece, the public debt (354.5 billion euros at end March) shook up the United States, is not out of the rut.Athens calls for a hue and cry a second bailout, a value equivalent to the first, or 110 billion euros, for which the Europeans require the participation of the private sector. A meeting of the Eurogroup in Brussels next Monday, followed by a council of finance ministers the following day was supposed to define its contours. But it will not succeed, as the differences remain significant even within the Union. At best, a decision is expected in mid-September, confirmed the new Greek Finance Minister, Evangelos Venizelos.

Taboo

For many scholars, starting with the rating agencies as criticized in recent days, the private sector's contribution to the recovery plan would resemble a Greek default, since creditors will not get their refunds in time and hour.A nightmare scenario that Europeans seek to avoid at all costs. Without having yet found the parade.

And meanwhile, some still waving the event of a release of the euro area. An expert in Brussels who had requested a report before he leaves office, a judge at the end of the decade "there may well still have 17 members, but the question is whether this will be the same that 'today. "

The subject is taboo, but if Greece were to be found in default, many experts believe that the only way to redress the country's economy would be a devaluation, and thus an exit from the euro. This had been done in Argentina in 2002, winning its currency, the peso, the U.S. dollar.
